The Challenge

At first, the project seemed simple: take the design and build it in Shopify. However, the layouts included complex components, and some features didn’t fully align with Shopify’s capabilities. Key challenges included:

• Building a mega menu that is visually rich and is easy to control from the admin panel.
• Adding filters that allow the same product to appear in multiple categories without errors.
• Keeping the design exactly as planned while staying within Shopify’s limits.

Our Approach

We started by defining Shopify’s technical boundaries together with the client. Some elements required slight design adjustments. Aligning on this early helped avoid surprises later. With the final layouts confirmed, we built the theme from scratch, including: the homepage, gallery, FAQ, and contact pages

Multiple collection templates and two PDP layouts

We’ve created various collection templates and two product detail page layouts to handle different product types, letting the client display items in ways that match their purpose and sales process. This setup gives the Bride To Be team flexibility in choosing the best layout for each collection or product.

A fully custom mega menu

We built a fully custom mega menu to match the design and support complex navigation needs. It allows showcasing multiple categories, featured links, and visual elements within a single dropdown.

The menu is fully manageable from the Shopify admin panel, so the client can update links, labels, and structure without developer involvement.

Filtering System

The filtering system was the most technically challenging part of the project. JK Diamond Co needed the same product to appear in multiple filter groups at once.

For example, a single ring could be listed as both “eternity” and “french pavé.” Since Shopify doesn’t support this behavior natively, we designed a custom filtering solution that works reliably, scales well, and remains easy for the client to manage and maintain over time.

After finishing the main design, we worked on making the site easy to manage and use. Every section of the site – from hero images to galleries and text blocks – was made fully editable through Shopify’s admin panel.

We also prepared a clear and detailed guide explaining how to update content and manage key sections of the website. This allows the client’s team to work independently, make updates quickly, and keep the site up to date without ongoing developer support.

Finally, when the brand’s team checked the website, they found some small things to improve.

We took care of these in a separate maintenance phase, improving the site until it matched the client’s vision perfectly.

This last set of improvements made sure the website was exactly what the client wanted, up to their standards, and was ready for confident long-term use.

The new JK Diamond Co website follows the original design closely. The site features a pixel-perfect theme, an advanced filtering system with multiple product page templates, and a flexible content system that allows the client to update text, images, and galleries independently.

The brand can now expand collections, refresh content, and maintain a consistent, polished look. This project was fully designed and developed by Digital Octane, ensuring high-quality implementation and long-term ease of management.
