At first glance, the project seemed straightforward: translate the design into a Shopify build. However, the layouts introduced a range of complex components, and certain features did not fully align with Shopify’s native capabilities.
Key challenges included:

• Building a mega menu that is visually rich and is easy to control from the admin panel;
• Implementing filters that allow the same product to appear in multiple categories without errors;
• Keeping the design exactly as planned while working within Shopify’s limits.

We started by defining Shopify’s technical boundaries in collaboration with the client. Some elements required slight design adjustments, and aligning on these early helped prevent issues later in the process. With the final layouts approved, we proceeded to build the theme from scratch, including the homepage, gallery, FAQ, and contact pages.

We created multiple collection templates along with two product detail page layouts to support different product types. This allows the client to present items in ways that align with their purpose and sales process.

The setup provides the JK Diamond Co team with the flexibility to choose the most suitable layout for each collection or product.

We developed a fully custom mega menu tailored to the design and built to support complex navigation requirements. It enables the display of multiple categories, featured links, and visual elements within a single, structured dropdown.

The menu is fully manageable through the Shopify admin panel, allowing the client to update links, labels, and overall structure without requiring developer involvement.

The filtering system was the most technically challenging aspect of the project. JK Diamond Co required the ability for a single product to appear across multiple filter groups simultaneously.

For example, a single ring could be listed as both “eternity” and “french pavé.” As Shopify does not support this behavior natively, we developed a custom filtering solution designed to work reliably, scale efficiently, and remain easy for the client to manage and maintain over time.

After completing the main design, we focused on making the site intuitive to manage and easy to use. Every section – from hero images to galleries and text blocks – was made fully editable through Shopify’s admin panel.
We also prepared a clear and detailed guide outlining how to update content and manage key areas of the website. This allows the client’s team to work independently, implement updates quickly, and keep the site current without relying on ongoing developer support.

In the final stage, the client’s team reviewed the website and identified a number of small refinements.

We addressed these during a dedicated maintenance phase, fine-tuning the site until it fully aligned with their vision. This final round of improvements ensured the website met the client’s standards and was ready for confident, long-term use.

The new JK Diamond Co website closely follows the original design, delivering a pixel-perfect theme combined with an advanced filtering system, multiple product page templates, and a flexible content structure that allows the client to independently update text, images, and galleries.

With this foundation in place, the brand can now expand its collections, refresh content, and maintain a consistent, polished look. The project was fully designed and developed by Digital Octane, ensuring high-quality implementation and long-term ease of management.
